2022 King's Daughters Organization Fund Grant Recipients

AgeLinc/Area Agency on Aging for Lincolnland $25,000 To cover expenses not covered by Medicare, specifically hearing aids, glasses and dental expenses.    
Contact Ministries $16,000 To provide $10,000 in medical prescription assistance and $6,000 in eye glass assistance to seniors 55 years of age and older living in Sangamon County.   
Educational Center for the Visually Impaired $5,000 To support the personal vision coach program, offering equipment and training to seniors who are visually impaired.   
Greater All Nations Tabernacle Church $12,500 Launch of the Resource Navigation Program at their resource senior luncheons to assist seniors in identifying and connecting with resources available. The navigator will identify the need; confirm eligibility; and, if eligible, navigators follow the senior though the application process.   
Habitat for Humanity of Sangamon County — Wheelchair Ramp Program $15,000 Funding for wheelchair ramp installation program to install, utilizing volunteer labor, ADA and code compliant ramps to allow low income, senior homeowners to live in their home longer and allow them to "age-in-place".   
Habitat for Humanity of Sangamon County — Critical Home Repair $25,000 Support the critical home repair program offering clients assistance with home repairs necessary for health or safety issues. Repairs include roof replacement, HVAC work (air conditioning/heating), interior accessibility aides, foundation work, insulation installation for energy efficiency, replacement windows and doors, etc.   
Habitat for Humanity of Sangamon County $1,600 To help seniors in need of furniture and household items to acquire necessary items from the Habitat for Humanity Retail Store.   
Illinois Presbyterian Home $10,822 To purchase senior-safe, outdoor chairs and tables for residence porches and patios.     
Illinois Symphony Orchestra $3,000 To support the Sundays at Six recital series featuring small ensembles from the ISO performing at senior centers and streamed on the ISO YouTube Channel. These streamed performances will allow seniors to enjoy the engaging and inspiring ISO performances from the comforts of their home.   
Loami Area Community Pantry $5,000 To purchase and provide senior clients with uncommon pantry items such as soaps, lotions, detergents for sensitive skin, blood pressure cuffs, incontinence products, etc.    
MindsEye Radio $5,000 To support the Broadcast Information Program that uses technology and volunteer support to provide free broadcasts of printed material to seniors with vision loss. Broadcasts include local information - news, grocery store ads, and obituaries - that cannot be accessed elsewhere.    
Senior Services of Central Illinois — Senior Transport Program $11,610 To support Senior Transport program by purchasing items essential to running an efficient and safe transportation program.   
Senior Services of Central Illinois — Emergency Fund $5,000 Support for the Emergency Fund program, which helps seniors in times of financial emergency to make rent or utility payments, avoiding eviction or shut-off.   
Springfield Housing Authority $5,132 To purchase air mattresses, blankets and, pillows for incoming residents who have been homeless, are very low income, and cannot afford furniture or items.   
The James Project $12,000 To provide supplemental grocery expenditures for grandparents and other relatives, who are 55+, and find themselves in the role of foster parent, adoptive parent, guardian, or fictive kin for their foster placement.   
The Joy of Movement $3,120 Support adapted group dance classes for seniors with Parkinson's Disease and their care partners.  
The Parent Place $9,407 To provide guardianship assistance, support meetings, and workshops focused on healthy family relationships for grandparents raising grandchildren.   
The Salvation Army Clearlake Corps and Community Center $15,000 Support for seniors raising their grandchildren, covering basic needs, such as housing costs, utilities, food, medication, school supplies, etc.
