Contact Ministries $18,000 Prescription assistance to clients age 55 and older who live in Sangamon County.
Educational Center for the Visually Impaired $7,350 "Reaching Independence and Live Life Well" for individuals who are experiencing the loss of their eye sight through macular degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma, and other diseases affecting the eye due to the aging process.
First Presbyterian Church Food Pantry $5,200 The Food Pantry's 55 Plus Program that provides low-fat, low-sugar, low-sodium, and other healthier items to address the unmet needs of food-challenged seniors in our community.
Greater All Nations Tabernacle Church of God in Christ $7,500 The monthly senior luncheon program.
Habitat for Humanity of Sangamon County — Critical Home Repair $15,685 Critical home repair program to help low-income homeowners stay in their homes by providing repairs such as roof repair/replacement, furnace and air conditioning repair/replacement, and other critical needs to make homes safe and livable.
Habitat for Humanity of Sangamon County — Wheelchair Ramp Program $15,000 The wheelchair ramp installation program that enables seniors to live in their homes longer and allows them to “age-in-place,” which has shown to improve quality of life.
Helping Hands of Springfield $6,000 Assist seniors with copays, medical supplies and transportation to services.
Historic Grace Lutheran Church Food Pantry $2,500 Help with covering costs of serving senior citizens, including providing high-protein/nutritious food items beyond the foods regularly given to all clients.
Land of Lincoln Honor Flight $5,250 Offset costs for 10 Sangamon County veterans to fly to Washington, D.C. to visit the national memorials dedicated to their service to our country. The Veterans will also have the opportunity to visit the Marine Memorial (Iwo Jima statue), the Air Force Memorial, the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum Annex, and the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery where they see the impressive "Changing of the Guard" ceremony.
Loami Area Community Pantry $5,000 Purchase items for area seniors that are not normally available at the pantry, including hearing aid batteries.
One Hope United $5,000 The Foster Grandparent Program.
Sangamon County Community Resources $12,000 Utility assistance payments for seniors over 60 who do not qualify for the LIHEAP program.
Senior Services of Central Illinois — Emergency Fund $2,500 The Emergency Fund program to prevent utility shut-offs and home evictions for seniors.
Senior Services of Central Illinois — Senior Transport $10,000 Support operations for the Senior Transport Program, including routine maintenance of vehicles to ensure safe, efficient transport for senior citizens.
SIU School of Medicine - Center for Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders $26,000 Grant to continue Minds in Motion and Opening Minds Through Art programs in Springfield.
Springfield Muni Opera $4,500 The Senior Bus Program for Senior Nights
The Joy of Movement $2,550 Adapted group dance classes for older adults with Parkinson disease (PD) and their care partners one day per week for FY 2019-2020.
The Parent Place $5,165 Provide guardianship assistance, support group meetings twice a month, and three respite activities for grandparents raising grandchildren.
The Salvation Army $10,000 Assistance for senior citizens who are raising grandchildren, including help with basic needs such as food, medication, school clothes and books, and rent/utility bills.
