St. Joseph’s Home Legacy of Care Fund

In 2022 the Sisters of St. Francis of the Immaculate Conception established the St. Joseph's Home Legacy of Care Fund at the Community Foundation upon the closure of St. Joseph's Home in Springfield, Illinois. The purpose of the St. Joseph's Home Legacy of Care Fund is to provide financial support to programs and services that offer care to seniors who reside in Cass, Christian, Logan, Macoupin, Menard, Morgan, Montgomery, and/or Sangamon County.

2024 St. Joseph’s Home Legacy of Care Fund Grant Recipients

Organization Grant Award Purpose
CEFS Meals on Wheels $30,000 Meals on Wheels Program, which offers congregate, and home delivered meal services to seniors 60 and over, five days per week.
Contact Ministries $30,000 Rent and utility assistance for seniors through a program called Rapid Rehousing. This program assists seniors pay for first month rent, ongoing monthly rent, past due utilities, and ongoing utilities, as necessary.
Grace Lutheran Food Pantry $25,000 Non-perishable/fresh foods and personal hygiene items to approximately 3,600 seniors in need.
Loami Area Community Pantry $25,000 Traditional, perishable/non-perishable food pantry items, as well as atypical items such as sensitive skin hygiene products, incontinent products, blood pressure cuffs, and wheelchairs.
Senior Services of Central Illinois $50,000 Bed Bug Interventions ($30,000), Respite Care ($10,000), Emergency Rent and Utilities ($5,000), and Emergency Food & Fans ($5,000).
St. Martin DePorres $50,000 Food and hygiene items for seniors and in-home delivery when necessary.
The James Project $15,000 Relief fund for seniors serving as foster and kinship caregivers.
