2018 Grant Awards - $54,000

The Community Grants Program awarded more than $54,000 in grants in 2018, as 17 donor-advised funds helped fund 38 different programs by nonprofits in central Illinois.

Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation To create sensory bags for children with autism who are touring the museum.
Agricultural Education Partnership - Logan, Menard, Sangamon To help offset the cost of a part-time educator, which would provide classroom education on farming.
American Cancer Society To host a “tea” to honor and celebrate cancer survivors and caregivers.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois To help with transportation expenses and supplies for their teen program that introduces youth to career and educational opportunities.
Brother James Court To purchase a Hoyer lift, and seven additional slings in various sizes.
Central Illinois Foodbank To help support the Healthy Foods Distribution program in Macoupin and Morgan counties.
Compass for Kids, Inc. To help support Camp Care-A-Lot, including helping cover costs of lodging and recreational activity at Lake Springfield Christian Assembly.
Contact Ministries To help fill medical prescriptions for no/low income clients and their children at the shelter, as well as helping cover the cost of doctor and dental visit co-pays.
Crossroads Transitional Living Program To cover start-up costs for the program, which intends to support aged out and former foster care women.
Delta Research and Educational Foundation To help host a luncheon/workshop in March 2019 featuring black females who were selected to be part of the Black Heritage Commemorative US Postage Stamps project.
Elizabeth Ann Seton Program To purchase Pack n’ Play cribs and fund educational services for a safe infant sleep initiative called Bundle of Love.
Family Service Center To provide training for counselors to prepare mental health clinicians testifying in court.
Fishing Has No Boundaries Capital City Chapter To purchase ADA compliant mats that would help maneuverability for disabled individuals.
Girls on the Run of Central Illinois To support the 20-lesson fall program aimed at improving girls emotional, social, and mental development at three sites – Dubois, Springfield Ball Charter and Graham Elementary Schools.
Habitat for Humanity of Sangamon County For the Homeowner Education Program.
Historic Grace Lutheran Church Food Pantry To help support the food pantry’s purchase of healthy foods.
Hoogland Center for the Arts To add a steel rail to the balcony in the Third Floor.
Hope Institute To purchase an embroidery machine for the Vocational Transitional Academy.
Illinois Symphony Orchestra To help provide two free Around the Town chamber music concerts.
Loami Area Community Pantry To purchase food items that are protein-rich to provide a healthy diet.
Meow Mobile To subsidize medical care and adoption fees for cats of Sangamon County Animal Control.
One Hope United To support the Foster Grandparent program by providing opportunities for low-income senior citizens to mentor at-risk students.
Sangamon Valley Youth Symphony To help with expenses for the 2018-19 season.
Scholastic Art Awards, Mid-Central IL Region For the annual affiliate fee to participate in the Scholastic Art Awards Program.

Springfield Art Association of Edwards Place For the Art Outreach Bronwyn Eves Memorial Fund, and helping complete the McClernand School Stars Sculpture for the outside entrance.
Springfield Ballet Company To support the Boys & Girls Clubs Ballet Outreach Program.
Springfield Parks District/Henson Robinson Zoo To develop educational programming that reaches underserved youth in schools and other groups which serve that population.

Taylorville Ministerial Association, Inc. DBA Taylorville Food Pantry For a paved 16x20’ ADA-compliant parking space for patrons with disabilities, as well as improving the rest of the parking lot.
The Helping Paw Project, Inc. To provide senior dogs with monthly screenings for heartworms to help prevent issues before they arise.
